The Studio
Everything is created by me right here in my home studio.
My Grandmother taught me to sew when I was 3 years old. Sitting on a stack of phone books I would "mend" holes in various things. She kindled and nurtured in me the love of creating.
Thank you for visiting and letting me share my love and passion for clay, making, creating and painting with you.
I am the maker behind Mushroom Root. I bought my first pottery wheel.. gosh over 16 years ago. I dragged it with me through 5 states and many more moves. It was a dream I always talked about making a reality. One day I just said "I have to, this is what I want to do.. I have to try" and Mushroom Root was born.
Mushrooms do not in fact have roots. I was born and raised in the absolutely gorgeous landscape of the Pacific Northwest. My favorite thing to do was to walk through the rainforest and experience all it's magical wonder. And of course to spot the mushrooms. I always pictured them as magical villages filled with beautiful fairies. That is where my name comes from.. makes me think of that magical place, the things unseen and yet so powerful, the power of imagination and belief. Also since they have no roots... My Mushroom Root is the only one because in fact they don't exist.
Most days you will find me juggling housework, homeschooling our twins, gardening, working in the studio, sewing on a quilt or trying to work out something on the knitting needles.
